Eldorado the Cattle Egret Reveals All

While trolling and scrolling through images to illustrate the next episode of Elroy, Mac and Apple’s story, I came across some images of Cattle Egrets.  Sorry–please indulge me and allow me to show you some antics at feeding time.  I also needed a break from the pathos of the Othello Tragedy.  So, here’s Eldorado the Cattle Egret.  (NOTE:  I’m fast-forwarding a bit here–at the time of Mac and Apple’s trouble, poor Eldorado could barely get a date, never mind having a lover and wee ones.  Remember–suspension of disbelief!)

Oh!  So you think it’s all fun and games with Cattle Egrets and the wee ones?  Well, let me tell you, you’re in for quite a bit of surprise on that one, you are.  My poor darling Betty–the love of my life–will agree with me!

Isn’t she just LOVELY, hein?  A tad harried, as you can see but here’s why:

Oh, yes!  The wee ones start out being such little muffineeno heads–all fluff and sweetness to make you drool.  (By the way, that’s not me in the image above–you must agree that I am far more handsome that that poor sod, no?)   Anyhaydaloo, this sweet period with the wee ones doesn’t last long.  They have the habit of growing and growing until one day, they are juveniles like the human teenagers.  Watch what happens when they catch the first whiff of incoming food from Betty or from me:

"Is that mullet in the air?"

"Naw, that's not mullet--it's SRAIMPPE, SHRAIMPPE!"

"You're right, you're right!!! It IS SHRAIMPPE from All yu kin eet SHRAIMPPE!"

"I think I see Mom--no, it's Dad!!!!" "What's the neighbor's kid doin' over here? Don't let him get MY shraimppe!!"

"What's this 'MY shraimppe business'????? Move over, I got it right, so I got first dibbs."

And so it goes, on and on.  My word, but I am all of a mucksweat (to quote James Joyce).  Ms P will be back with the continuation of the Mac and Apple story, narrated by Maya the Great Egret.  She says that my little squadron will make intermittent appearances to relieve the pathos.

Now, HERE’S A LINK to a song I’m rather partial to and I hope you enjoy it too.

drjimberger - Unbelievable characters! You would think these were staged. Great work, Patricia! I will be looking forward to hearing from them for comic relief.

Julie G. - A most glorious interruption of the Elroy, Mac & Apple saga from the little shraimppe-loving Cattle Egrets, Patricia! Every single image used to tell this tale is absolutely spectacular! The egrets facial expressions paired with your dialogue is quite entertaining. You are so very creative and an especially gifted photographer. Thanks for being an inspiration to me and others! Another awesome post!
