So, here’s my philosophie: doan’t mess with the darn ‘gator iffen ya doant wan’ him/her ta eet ya up!  Gotta fly now!!!!

Days Like This Are…

…bliss. Not for the Peacock below, but for me.  Today, I had the pleasure of seeing some of my favourite birds–doing what birds do: eating, fishing, having fun, eating, bleating, flying, taking care of business, building, eating, having fun.  What more could one want if you love birds?  Best of all, the early light was great and I got in a good morning of photography.  Now, the Peacock, on the other hand (more below):

This poor guy saw his reflection in a glass door and decided it was THE ENEMY.  The feathers fanned out, the beak was “en garde” and he carried out the pugilist’s dance to the amazement of a group of fans who stopped to admire him.  He turned around and gave us a little bow once his venting was done.  Of course, I took a picture–against my better judgment–hence the noise from low light shade!  Oh well, there WILL be days like this and I had a BALL ;D

Here’s Van Morrison with–what else–DAYS LIKE THIS Enjoy and come back soon for the continuation of  the sagas from Maya the Great Egret and me, Ms. P :)

Happy, Happy Mother’s Day!

[caption id="attachment_1985" align="aligncenter" width="1024" caption="Maya the Great Egret as a juvenile with her brother Antoine"][/caption]

Happy Mother’s Day, all you human, bird, critter, animal, insect Mom out there.  Now, listen up y’all:   A Mom’s job ain’t easy.  Jest take a look at the picture above:  That’s me in the foreground with my jackass bro, Antoine. He’d pretend that I had fish in my beak and would torture me until I spat it out.  Which I counnent–’cause there wasn’t no fish in tha first place.  Drove Mom crazy.  Dad would jest laugh and say:  “Boys will be boys” which drove Mom even more crazy.  Well, I survived the jackass days and now Antoine is one of my bestest frienddes.  But Moms really do a lot more than they are thanked for:  they make the nest, lay the eggs (cringe), lay on the eggs, turn the eggs, make the nest, clean the nest, furnish the nest, decorate the nest, fish, regurgitate (no clue what that means–Ms P made me include it), fish again, clean our feathers, keep us warm in cold weather, teach us to clean our feathers, teach us to fly, give us lovin’, and THAIN, the worst ever–give us our freedom to fly away where ever we want.  So, Moms deserve a HUGE appreciation. Yes!

Now here are a few more pics of Moms and little ones in these here parts:
